Life on the Spot! Life and Leisure in Doha, Qatar

A month and a half since the first rehearsal, all the cast's hard work will soon reap its rewards.  I am truly proud that my daughter Xianelle has taken part in this endeavor and I can't wait to be awed in the audience as she and the entire Oliver cast perform and sing the songs that I have memorized and loved to sing myself. Yesterday we watched history unfold before our very eyes as we stood there on Osmena Avenue, with thousands more Filipinos, waiting to bid our beloved President Cory our final goodbye. I feel honored and privileged having been there to witness how one person out of her integrity, honor, decency and kindness could bring people from all walks of life togeher even in her death.

You truly were that one person the FIlipinos could trust and you will continue to be that one person who inspire us to do good things despite ourselves. Thank you for our history but most of all thank you for reminding us that the Filipinos are a wonderful and decent people worth dying and sacrificing for. Paalam minamahal na Tita Cory!

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will open the 2009 ATP season by playing at the Qatar Open. Better start buying you tickets now! It seems that a lot of the tickets were already sold and much like last Women's Tournament, getting free tickets seems to be unlikely. The Tournament is to opem on January 5 with Semifinals said to be on the 9th and 10th. Finals, as with previous tournaments, is likely to be on the Sunday of 11th.

Qatar tennis federation president Nasser al-Kholiafi says Andy Murray and Andy Roddick will also take part in the hard-court tournament.

The tournament in Doha is one of three to start the 2009 tennis season, along with the Brisbane International in Australia, and the Chennai Open in India.
