Happy 33rd!

Eid Mubarak! Yup, it is the start of Eid! And people in the Gulf Region would have a holiday tomorrow and if your company deems it, you're supposed to get Monday as a day-off too. Other companies though are giving 5 days off which means, employees get a total of 9 days leave! Only in the Gulf!
Anyway, life has been quite busy for us. Mavis and Xiane arrived Monday night. I was late picking them up at the airport as their plane, which was supposed to arrive at 9:30, arrived an hour early. They had to wait for 10 minutes before I came. A day after, Xianelle had her orientation in Qatar Academy. Hopefully, we would be able to write more about that but as a whole, it was a very pleasant experience and the orientation and tour around the campus was overwhelming.
We have also been cleaning up the Flat and arranging stuff we left when we went for vacation. Remember that 2 weeks after moving in the new flat, we had to go leave for our vacation in the Philippines? That meant that a lot of the boxes and items we brought from the old flat have been left packed and we're just finding time to open them. We still have lots to do but we're slowly working on it.
This is a quick post just to keep you guys updated. However, we've been quite busy with our Facebook (FB) updates. We just find it convenient and more interactive. You can catch us and add us at the following Facebook pages. Just make sure to introduce yourselves so we can add you to our list of friends.

It seems Starlink Qatar is going to try and bring the iPhone in Qatar. Although on the Apple website, Vodafone Qatar is listed as its distributor, they still don't have any agreement with Apple itself thus they can't sell the iPhones at a distributor price. Apple has a contract with Vodafone itself but not Vodafone Qatar. Anyway, Starlink Qatar ha sannounced that it is going to bring the iPhone in Qatar. For how much? I don't know yet. They haven't announced the prices yet. Hopefully, they'll be much cheaper than what Vodafone is offering. For sure though, these phones would be unlocked and a year warranty and support would be provided to those buying the iPhone from them. Here's the rest of the story:
Starlink is bringing the latest iPhones to Qatar at great prices, the retailer has announced.Starlink claims it will be among the first stores in the country to have the iPhone 3GS 32GB and the iPhone 3GS 16GB.The iPhone 3GS 32GB offers a range of functions and features, and the ability to add new applications seamlessly, making it one of the fastest and most advanced Smartphones on the market. The iPhone 3GS 16GB is set to be offered at one of the most competitive prices in Qatar. Both phones come with a one-year warranty and support promise.“By bringing the latest and most powerful models to Qatar, we’re providing a huge range of power-packed features at a price we know our customers will enjoy,” Starlink CEO Alan Sinfeld said.

It seems that there has been a major fire at Qatar Animal Welfare Society (QAWS) this afternoon which basically gutted their building and shelters. Reports from the web community suggests that the cats, rabbits and other animals who were housed on the shelter were lost. The dogs apparently were saved but needs temporary shelter.
If you have space to accommodate an animals from QAWS, please call them at 539 6074 or visit the QAWS website for more information on how to help them.
EDIT (from Greeker) :
They need immediate help. They have sent almost 55 dogs to another shelter, but will have to remove them in 48 hours. These are a few things which they will need.
1) Volunteers to help them with resettling the dogs, at least for a month.
2) Animal food. Their entire stock burned down.
3) Help to rebuild the shelter (this might come in later)

Vodafone Qatar has started selling iPhones at their stores today. Apparently, these iPhones have diamonds encrusted on them. Hmmm...I need to verify this as the prices they are selling them for do indicate that there might be some precious stones on them.
iPhone 3G 8GB QR2,600
iPhone 3GS 16GB QR4,500
iPhone 3GS 32GB QR5,200
WTF! An iPhone 3Gs for a whooping QR5,200. They must be dreaming! If you get the chance to buy it on ebay, Australia or Hong Kong, you are likely to pay no more than 3,200QR for the same model. Officially unlocked too! The ones Vodafone Qatar is selling are also unlocked but the price is exorbitant.
If you are still interested, you can get the iPhone from any Vodafone stores at Landmark Mall, Villaggio Mall, City Center Mall, Al Khor, Lu Lu Hypermarket and Musheireb Street.
On their promo blurb, they say:"These will go quickly so run, don't walk, to the Vodafone store nearest you!". In my opinion, don't even bother getting up.
