Inviting our Singaporean Friends Over
Last Friday, we invited our Singaporean friends, the Quek Family, over to our house. We met them through the internet as apparently, Dennis, reads our blog. He read that Xiane was studying in Doha Montessori and British School (DMBS) and was in the same class as his son Timmy. So he emailed me and our families decided to meet. We actually got together last June but since we went on a long vacation, we didn’t get to meet again till last week.
So we were excited to have them visit the house as we went to visit theirs the first time we got together. We prepared shrimp and broccoli pasta and home-made fish balls. We were supposed to have fish n’ chips however, the recipe that I got from the internet didn’t work out, so we had to resort to plan B and ordered pizza from Papa John’s. We also had blueberry cheesecakes for desert, bought from Opera.
They came at around 6:00 in the evening. We had a wonderful time. The children, Xianelle and their two children, Timmy and Rachel, had fun playing in the other room and kept shouting as they played with Xiane’s Baby Alive who they gave water to and have her pee. The adults chatted the night away especially that Dennis just came from his African adventure; climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, visiting African Tribes and having a Desert Safari. I’m sure it was quite an adventure! They also came with the idea that the kids spend overnight at their place in a tent! Since they were living in a compound, they had a backyard where they can pitch tent. The children would camp out at the backyard and we adults would stay upstairs just in case the children bailed out.
Before we knew it, it was already past 9 in the evening and they had to go home. Hopefully, the plan pushes through and we’d get to see each other again this week.
