Start of Term

On September 7th, most schools are going to open again for the start of the First Term of school year.  This includes my daughter’s school, Doha Montessori and British School.  But since it is Ramadan, school timings will be from 7:45 am- 12:15 noon.  This would mean that we’ll be able to come home early and will give her time to take naps in the afternoon.

During our holiday, I’ve tried to give Xiane some exercises in writing and math which she was only able to do during our stay with my family in Baguio City.  Since our routine there is more domesticated compared to that in Angeles where she always spent time either at her Mamita’s or Tita Tin’s store.  Nevertheless making her do her exercises, takes so much bargaining, as to how many pages and which ones she should do.  It was easier when she was younger as she would readily oblige.  Well, I guess that’s just normal.  When we grow older we try to be more assertive.  Although I had to remind her that once she goes back to school, she can’t tell her teacher that she doesn’t want to do her work, nor can she choose the work that she wants to do.  But I know that she’ll get adjusted to school life in no time at all.

I’ve been praying that Xiane will have a good but most of all, a kind teacher like Miss Jean.  I also hope that this will be a great year for her in school; that she will continue to be as receptive to learning as she was last year; that she will continue to be a happy and lively child and have more friends at school.  God bless you child as you take this next big step in your young life.  All the best to you!
