Aramex Shop&Ship Delays

ARAMEX Shop&Ship

I’ve been using Aramex Shop & Ship for more than a year now and it really helps when buying stuff from online sellers  who don’t ship internationally. It’s been good in delivering and not losing items as I’ve never lost anything from them yet. The only mishap that I remembered occurring was when Mavis’ box of shoes was given to another Qatari. Thankfully, the Qatari was kind enough to deliver the box at our house. However, these past few months, shipment and delivery of the items have been flaky as it takes so long to get your items. On the Aramex Shop & Ship FAQ it states that:
"Once a package is shipped from our US or UK offices, it takes 4-6 business days to be delivered to you, provided that your shipment clears customs without being delayed or stopped by customs for any reason"
Looking at my 4 latest shipments, I’m sure that it took more than 6 days to deliver stuff. My “Overlord” Xbox 360 game which was received at the operations facility on April 25 was received in Doha,Qatar on May 3. That is 9 full days before I got a 0.65 lb box. From the New York office, it took them 5 days to get it delivered to Dubai! Does the trip from the US to Dubai take that long?

There are also a lot of instances wherein the item has already been manifested for forwarding, only to find out 3 days later that the item itself has been offloaded because of flight cancellation. This means that expected arrival would be again delayed.

I’m not too sure if there are any other options for people like me who buys a lot of stuff from the US which provides the service but delivers faster. I was talking to one of the Customer representatives of Aramex and was told that they were having talks with a better airline than the low-cost ones that they are using at the moment. I do hope this materializes soon and that we wouldn’t incur extra charges if it does so happen.

I use myUS.com before. In fact my account there is still active. They were efficient. They re-pack your package and prepare commercial invoice for a fee to declare whole sale price of goods you bought. It's a little bit expensive though because they use DHL plus you need to pay a monthly fee o keep the account. What's good with myUS is when you have multiple package from different vendors, you can wait for all of them and combine them in one shipment. I love myUS but I use Aramex now because Aramex cheaper - matagal lang talaga. Try to visit myUs website and see baka offset naman yong mga cost sa volume ng orders mo and ofcourse, yong time element.

Looked at the shipping rates for myUS and compared it to Aramex. For a 10 lb. Item, Aramex would charge 247QR while myUS would charge 322QR. Quite expensive. That's almost QR 100 difference. So might as well wait with Aramex. By the way, they're moving to their new office...

expensive nga so tiyaga na lang tayo.

Hi Tian. I happened to chance upon your blog amongst those at Qatar Visitor. Nice blog. After reading your blog, I realised that my son Timothy is in the same DMBS reception class as your daughter Xianelle. Small world. Oops sorry.. forgot to introduce myself. I am in IT too but more in planning and consultancy work for Min. of Interior. We (Chui Peng, Rachel, Tim and I) have been here in Qatar for about six months. We are from Singapore. From your blogging (btw. excellent English), I can sense that you and your family are loving, decent and friendly people. I wouldn't mind meeting up. I believe that it is often rare to find nice people and hence one should not miss the chance of getting to know more and becoming friends. Let me know anytime. On weekdays, I get off work after 1 pm. Cheers.

Hey Dennis, Sorry for the late reply.... been too busy these days as we're preparing for our vacation this coming Thursday. Would like to meet with you...check your email...
