Residence Permit

It’s been a busy week for me.  I was able to submit our application for the renewal of our residence permits or RP which will expire in May.  The first time I went, I was given the forms that I needed and was told about the requirements (copy of RP page of the applicant and the sponsor, 1 passport size photo with blue background, applicant and sponsors signature) all of which were available except for the document on our blood group.

My husband and I already had our blood group results when we first came here and applied for our RP almost 3 years ago.  Yet it is a wonder why we have to give the same documents over again this time, especially the one for the blood group which obviously will never change no matter how many RP renewals we’ll have in the future.  We wonder why they don’t have it in their system when it’s still the same personal information over again.  Well, talk about bureaucracy.

My daughter, on the other hand, was only 2 years old then and wasn’t required to get a blood grouping test.  But this time she had to.  I took her to the clinic and they had to draw some blood from her.  But since she’s still a little girl the kind lady staff didn’t have to draw from her arm using a syringe, rather she used a lancet on her finger.  Thankfully, Xianelle was brave enough and didn’t even shed a tear.  I am truly proud of her for that.

Having completed all the requirements, I was finally able to submit the application.  It’s going to take 2 weeks before we get our new RP’s.  But I took the liberty of asking the HR staff the number to call so I could ask if the RP’s are ready, rather than going there only to find out that I have to come back again the following day or the day after.

I’m just glad that it’s all done and over with.  Until our next renewal…
