And the Winner is...Snow White

We were at a friend’s daughter’s 1st birthday party last night.  It was held at Burger King, Al Sadd and it was a costume party.  Originally Xiane was supposed to wear her Belle Christmas gown, the one that we got her as Christmas gift last year.  But on Thursday, her new Snow White and Aurora costumes that her dad bought online arrived, just in time for the party.  As soon as we got home from that darn (my apologies for the word but it was an event that lacked preparation, information dissemination- in short just a waste of our precious time) “2016 Public Lunch” on Thursday night, Xiane tried on both gowns.  Xiane was persistent on wearing the Aurora gown while her dad and I insisted that she wears the Snow White.  We fell in love with it the moment that we laid eyes on it.  It was a little girl's costume yet it was classy and elegant.  But Xiane had made up her mind.  She really wanted the Aurora gown, simply because it is pink!  But clever mom came up with something to convince her daughter.  I told her that the invitation says “come in your best costume for a prize awaits” and told her that if she wore Snow White, she would have a big chance of winning the prize.  So right then and there, she agreed with us.

Yesterday afternoon I prepped my daughter, even used curlers for her hair so that it would truly look like Snow White’s.  Then I put red lipstick on her and gave her chicks some blush-on.  She put on her gown, place the improvised red headband (we placed a red bow)… Voila! She was an instant Snow White.  We couldn’t help but admire how beautiful she looked in the gown.  Her dad took photos of her and my, they were very nice!

The party was about to start when we arrived, just in time for the parlor games.  But of course our princess had to join the games.  At first she was getting frustrated because she wasn’t winning anything but her face lit up when she was called in front and got a big prize in a pink wrapper.  She was so happy although she wasn’t even aware that it was her prize for winning best costume.  She was so surprised when she finally learned that she won!  It was pure joy.  It was just so nice to see our daughter so happy and proud.  On our way home and until now she still can’t get over the thought that she has really won.  She kept repeating “I won! I won!”  Xiane really had a blast!  As for me, it was also good in a way that it validates the saying “mothers know best”.
