Eid Diaries - Day 5, Tuesday

Villagio Gondola Ride Villagio Gondola Ride Villagio Gondola Ride

We arrived home at almost 10pm.  Xiane had always wanted to ride the Gondola at the Villagio Mall ever since she saw it but we are not frequent visitors of Villagio Mall and when we do visit, it was always crowded as it is usually on a weekend.  But this morning while preparing breakfast I suggested to my husband that we go there today so we can finally give Xiane her gondola ride.  Xiane and her dad spent the afternoon taking a nap while I ironed the clothes.  Being on a Eid holiday doesn’t exempt stay-at-home mom’s like me from chores although I must say that these days there isn’t that much to do.  But my ironing is something that I can’t simply procrastinate as it is surely going to backfire on me.  My take on ironing is to get it done and over with, a.s.a.p.- so I did!

We left for Villagio at 5 in the afternoon.  We parked near the entrance where the indoor artificial canal and the gondola ride is located.  A gondola ride costs QR15 per gondola for 4 persons.  There was already a queue when we came but luckily we didn’t have to wait long although waiting for our turn took longer than the ride itself which is about 5 minutes or so.  Of course it wasn’t an exciting or extraordinary ride but it was fun especially for Xiane.  It was a nice opportunity for taking photos.  A reminder to those who easily get cold though, bring a jacket or a sweater because it can be very cold in Villagio, more so in the artificial canal area.  Then we made a visit to Virgin Mega Store where I was able to buy a book.  Tian had a look around in the electronics area with Xianelle.  After buying some blank DVDs from Carrefour, we dropped by ARAMEX to claim a package that has just arrived.  The three of us were so hungry so we had dinner at Turkey Central at Mergab St.  I know we’ve been there for the “nth” time since we came back.  Well if it’s that good, you just keep coming back for more.  I guess the same is true with all the other customers that were there tonight- Filipinos. Indians, Qataris, Westerners, etc.  There were families (big ones), friends, lovers, etc.  We left the place really satisfied.  My only complaint is that there was too much noise, everybody was babbling words while munching their food at the same time.  Whatever happened to our table manners “do not talk while your mouth is full”? Still, food was great so no matter how noisy it was, people just kept munching and eating.

So that was how we spent our day…
