Eid Diaries- Day 4, Monday

Corniche Picnic Corniche Picnic Corniche Picnic Corniche Picnic

Here I am again pounding on the keyboard about to write on how our day went.  Guess what, our plans to have a picnic and to bring Xiane to Corniche finally pushed through today, which reminds me that if you really want something to happen, you have to really work to make it happen.  I woke up at 6:00 in the morning and prepared food if we were to have a picnic.  I made 3 hotdog sandwiches, each one with specifications- plain one for Xiane, meaning just the hotdog and the bun; with mayo and ketchup for me; and with mayo, mustard, pickles and ketchup for Tian.  Then I heated up some pasta, cooked some cheese sticks and sliced some fruits.  I had coffee for my beverage, mango juice for Xiane and Pepsi for Tian (I know, too early for soda).

We got to leave the house at past 7.  Once we found the perfect spot, we wasted no time.  We spread our picnic blanket and started our picnic while taking photos and video in between.  When we got all satisfied, we decided to lay there for a while and just enjoy the outdoors.  There were a few passersby, people who were mostly just going for their morning walk or jog.  Then after sometime, Xiane went biking with her dad as her chaperone.  I had to stay to look after our things.  After sometime they had to come back since it was starting to get really warm but before we finally took off Xiane and her dad got to play tag first.  It was fun watching the two them laugh while chasing each other.  No doubt, the two were really beat from doing that.  As soon as we got home, we all took a bath and just rested.  Xiane took a nap while Tian and I spent the afternoon on our favorite pastime, watching.  Well, Xiane just finished painting.  She’s into painting and drawing a lot lately.  I must say that she is really creative and quite artistic, something she took after her dad.  It’s so nice to see her drawings.  She is really able to draw or paint out her ideas.  Like yesterday, she painted a duck and it did look like a duck.  This afternoon, she painted a diamond which she says changes color and makes a “boiyk” whenever it changes color.  She also made a portrait of “Magenta” the pink puppy friend of Blues from Blues Clues.  It was just so fascinating that she has this inkling for the arts which I probably didn’t have when I was her age.  That is why, we try to provide her art materials and give them available to her whenever she wants to do something.

As to how we’re spending the night, well pretty much the same.  Watch House M.D. till we fall asleep.
