The Thursday Group
I was invited to Sandro’s home last Thursday. We usually get together on Thursdays but since they had a 2 month vacation and I had mine, it’s the first that we had since I came back to Qatar. They were inviting me the other week too but passed since I still felt tired and just wanted to stay home to sleep and rest since I just came from vacation.
I got there at around 12 noon, bringing the Wii so we could play. However, thinking that they have a voltage regulator to plug the 110V Wii, I left my portable voltage converter.Thus we were left playing with the old trusty Xbox. Yup, not the Xbox 360 but the Gen 1 Xbox. And as usual, we played NBA Live. Noy and I played the first game with me winning through a come from behind victory. He led by as much as 18 points but I got to catch up and scored the last basket with about a second to go, giving me a 1 point advantage.
Sandro and I played the second game. It was a close match. We had to stop midway and pause the game as Dimpz was already inviting us to have lunch. It was actually Sandro who cooked while Noy and I were playing. He prepared Kare-Kare (Beef stewed in Peanut Sauce) and Sinigang (Beef in Tamarind soup). It’s been a while since I ate rice since I’m too lazy to cook rice at home. This time I didn’t pass the chance. I got so full! We continued playing afterwards. We had 2 Overtimes as the game got really close. I should have won at the end of the 4th quarter but he caught up to tie the game in the last seconds. On the other end, he should have won the 1st overtime but it was my turn to play catch up. In the end, my guys weren’t able to sustain their scoring prowess and lost to a point. What a great game.
Tito Yam and Tita Mae came at about 4 PM. We were expecting Tito Yam to bring the voltage regulator for us to be able to play the Wii but he forgot. With Sandro driving and Princess sitting with me at the back of their Paj, I got back home to get my adapter. We got to playing Tennis then moved to Boxing on the Wii.I actually won about 8 straight fights in boxing to be “crowned” the undisputable Boxing Champ!
Still reeling from the exercise we got from playing the Wii, we went downstairs to play real Table Tennis. With Tito Yam and Noy pairing and Me with Sandro, the other team got the best of us and won. We got to finish at around 7 PM. We had dinner at about 8:30 that eventually led to more than an hour of chatting. I got home at about 11:15!
