We Passed!
My husband spent the first 3 days of the week taking care of the car's registration that expired on the 5th of this month. As it is a standard procedure for all vehicles 3 years and older to undergo inspection, our car was no exception. Tian took it to the testing center in Industrial Area. QTIC (Qatar Technical Inspection Company) was very strict with their inspection that our Picasso almost failed because of a small paint crack at the rear bumper. The document actually indicated that, technically the car passed but failed legally, whatever that means. We were just relieved that eventually, our vehicle passed the inspection. Then Tian had to renew the insurance for the car, for which he paid QR1450 for a full coverage, meaning it covers you and the third party, plus insurance for the driver and four more passengers. However, our insurance company, Doha Insurance has recently come up with a new policy, that is, if it turns out that the policy holder is at fault during an accident, he has to pay QR1000. Well that's just great, here you are getting an insurance for your car only to shell a whopping 1000 Riyals out of your own pockets when the insurance should be serving its purpose. But what can we do, we don't make these policies or have a say on them even. We just better hope that we don't ever get into any accidents in the future. Nevertheless, we are just glad that the car is in pretty good shape again and that the registration has finally been accomplished. Now we can sit back and relax for another year.
