The Flower Girl
Ever since Xiane started to walk, I have been dreaming of her becoming a flower girl in a wedding. I believe that it is every mother's dream that her daughter gets to experience it at least once in her daughter's young life. I had been a flower girl at least once when I was a little girl. I don't remember much of it now but it is so much fun seeing of me as a little girl, walking down the aisle, wearing a beautiful gown while carrying a small basket of flowers. As a mom, I want Xianelle to have that experience too. The only problem is that we didn't know anyone who is getting married.
I kept hoping that somebody from the family or among friends would soon decide to tie the knot and be sweet enough to ask my daughter to be their flower girl. Then just this week, I received an email from a friend (Christian's HS friend and Xiane's godmother) telling us that she is getting married and that she would like her god daughter to be one of her flower girls. I was so happy and ecstatic but not for long. The wedding is set in November and since we'll be going home in May, to be able to attend the wedding is next to impossible. It was a bit disappointing but the timing isn't just right.
But just like an answered play, the other day I got yet another news from my Lola (grandma) Perl that her daughter is getting married in May. Then I had a brilliant idea, why not ask them if Xiane could be a flower girl. I thought that this could be my daughter's only chance at experiencing it. I finally had the courage to ask and this time I got the most delightful answer. Yes, Xianelle is definitely going to walk down the aisle in a beautiful gown and a basket of pretty flowers in her hands, in the month of May. I could hardly wait for that day to come and see my pretty flower girl.
