It was Christian’s 30th birthday last Thursday. I had been bugging him weeks before his birthday that we should have a celebration on his birthday but he simply wouldn’t agree. I just thought that turning 30 is something worth celebrating. And why not, 3 decades of being and living is something to be thankful for, especially when your life has been blessed with so many wonderful things- a family that showers you with love no matter what, a someone whom you can spend the rest of your life with, a smart and lovely daughter, good friends who make life brighter and material blessings as well.

Finally, just a few days before his birthday, he agreed to have a party. We decided to do it the following day, Friday. Being a weekend, it gives us enough time to prepare. Thankfully the celebration was a success even if there were only the two of us who prepared everything. We had about 15 guests, close friends and some friends whom we met through tennis. I was so glad that they liked the food that I cooked but most of all I was happy because Tian enjoyed his birthday party and that’s all I needed to know. Showing his appreciation for what I’ve done makes the 10 long hours stay in the kitchen that day all worth it.
