764 expats lose jobs to Qatarisation

Doha • A total of 764 expatriates lost their job during 2004-2005, as part of the ongoing Qatarisation drive.
As part of the drive, 1597 nationals got placements in various government and private companies during the period.
While 1,250 nationals got appointment in the government agencies, 347 were received placements in private companies during the period, reported Al Sharq.
The government and private agencies received a total of 1,516 applications from the nationals. Among those got the appointment includes 527 fresh graduates.
According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs and Housing, a total of 2,5917 Qatari males were appointed in public sectors during 2004-05.
Of this, 53 per cent are Qatari females. The total rate of Qatari placement is 8 per cent high against the previous year, the report says.
